So I had promised to write about the top ten cars in my garage at some point, and I guess I should really start to do that. I did list them in no particular order, but for the sake of this writing, I will write about them in the order that I listed them in. That means that the first car up to bat is the Subaru Forester STi.
Now it’s not every day that you hear Forester and STi put together. The result of this marriage is a car that will get you from point A to point B very rapidly, and you can take your family, your dog and all of your luggage too. Yes, this is the sort of rapid, over land transport that we did not get in America…again. Leave it to the rest of the world to get some of the better cars and leave us high and dry.
But I digress. This car came with the same wheel base, engine, gearbox and suspension that the Impreza STi did, only with a different shell and more space. The performance that came out of this combination was staggering too. With 60 coming up in five or fewer seconds (depending on the state of tune), this little wagon could run rings around many sports cars. Not only that, but it will haul more than every sports car… combined. With a cavernous (for a small SUV) 68 cubic feet of space in the back, you could make the daily shopping run in half the time.
Plus the car has the benefit of Subaru’s patented All Wheel Drive system. You won’t have to worry about snow or rain or even large mounds of dirt that somehow land in front of you. With the Forester, you can conquer anything that comes your way.
And with the STi, you can leave others in the dust. A 2.5 liter, 300 bhp engine coupled with 300 ft/lbs of torque means that you get 150 mph and a whole lot of fun. More info can be found on this car around the Internet, and the best place to stop to see a video from Fifth Gear is Litchfield Imports. This truly could be the one car that will replace everything else you own. You can use it as a daily driver, take it to a track day and make the school run in it. This is one sweet little ride.
