I don’t remember if I have mentioned this before or not, but there may be another driver on the move fairly soon. As we wind our way down to the last two races of the season (Brazil this week) it may be announced that Rubens Barrichello is moving to Williams. Essentially, this would leave the door open at Brawn to snap up Nico Rosberg. This is a move that Mercedes – who may be purchasing a huge stake in Brawn – have been looking to make for a long time. Mercedes has been keen to see a German driver using one of their engines, and if Kimi is going to head to McLaren (as may be the case) then this move seems like the one that Mercedes will want to see happen more than any other. So stay tuned for that, but right now it looks like a clean driver switch between the two teams to me.
In other news, Felipe Massa was back in Maranello this past week at the Ferrari factory. He was all smiles about seeing his team and I’m sure he is dying to jump back into a F1 car after getting a taste in an F2007. Of course, they also took him in publicity shots for their new F458 Italia, and he gave the photographers the thumbs up of course, even though I’m sure he has never driven the car before. He is scheduled to wave the flag for the finish of his home grand prix though, and that should be a good thing for the Brazilian fans to see. More updates will happen throughout the week as we get closer to the race, but it has been a little slow out there as far as news is concerned. Oh well, stay tuned for more as always.
