As of this moment, it is sure looking bad for USF1. Personally, I hate it when Bernie is right, and it looks as if he was on the right track when he called this one. The team has canceled crash testing, interviews and still doesn’t have a second driver. When there is no word out of a team, it is a bad sign. This is unfortunate, because they were so gung-ho about this venture and now they have to eat their words. This stems mostly from the fact that they don’t seem to be able to pay their suppliers or their employees. And if you can’t do either of those, then you are in a heap of trouble. Plus, it sounds like their major backer, YouTube, has pulled out and is possibly going to sponsor another team. USF1 could have been a great experiment, but, like many American boasts, this one is going to end up as puffery.
