F1 Is Finally Back! Australia Predictions Right Here!

Well, it’s finally here. The Australian Grand Prix is officially underway (down under) and surprisingly, it’s the McLarens that are at the top of the time sheets. They said they needed to find a full second to even compete with the front runners and, unless they were seriously sandbagging during winter testing, it looks like their new floor and exhaust system has found that time, and more. In the first practice session it was the two Red Bulls on top, with Fernando Alonso and his Ferrari in third during both sessions. So essentially, it looks like last year all over again, but that really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has ever seen a Formula One race before. These three teams are the cream of the crop and it shows. I have a pretty good idea that the Ferraris and the Red Bulls were perhaps testing fuel loads and tires and not really going all out like they could. If that is the case, look for Vettel to be on pole position followed closely by Alonso in the Ferrari. As for the race? Well, it isn’t expected to rain so I expect the race to go as planned and for the top three teams to all be in the top spots, barring some sort of unexpected accident or reliability failure, which did in both the Red Bulls last year. But, without further ado, here is my top ten.

1. Sebastian Vettel

2. Fernando Alonso

3. Lewis Hamilton

4. Felipe Massa

5. Mark Webber

6. Michael Schumacher

7. Jenson Button

8. Nico Rosberg

9. Rubens Barrichello

10. Jaime Alguersuari

Also, I’m not sure how these movable rear wings are going to work, or if they even will, but I don’t really think they will lend much to the show, as the drivers will be concentrating much harder on, you know, the driving part of the race. But who knows, maybe one team will have figured out how to incorporate both KERS and the moveable rear wing so that when you hit the switch for one, the other kicks in, giving an extra power boost with less downforce! Now that would be something cool to see. Bring on Sunday!
