Singapore Grand Prix Predictions

So here we are. This is effectively the last race of the season that means anything as Sebastian Vettel will win the world driver’s title in Singapore and Red Bull will easily take the constructor’s prize as well. The real fight of this season then, will be to see which team comes out second. And second could be very different for the driver’s and constructor’s titles. Fernando Alonso is currently second in the championship in points, but because his teammate, Felipe Massa, isn’t doing so hot, Ferrari will not be second in constructor’s points. That title will go to McLaren. However, the story this weekend will be Vettel and his second consecutive championship title with Red Bull. The guy is unstoppable and is sitting on pole – his 11th of the season – for the Grand Prix of Singapore. I see no reason for him not to win, as he boasted that he could have gone even faster than he did to claim pole (which he did by over .3 of a second from his teammate Mark Webber). So who finishes where? Who comes after the champ? Here are my predictions for this weekend.

1. Sebastian Vettel

2. Jenson Button

3. Mark Webber

4. Fernando Alonso

5. Lewis Hamilton

6. Nico Rosberg

7. Felipe Massa

8. Adrian Sutil

9. Michael Schumacher

10. Paul di Resta

You’ll notice that I did not remove any of the Q3 qualifiers from the finishing order. I did that because I don’t think there will be a lot of attrition in this race (although now that I’ve said it I hope there is) and I feel that these truly are the fastest cars around this track. They should all have no problem pulling away from the lower teams and finishing ahead of them in the points. I think I may have said this before in the last post, but congratulations to Sebastian Vettel for winning the 2011 Formula One Driver’s Title. And no, I’m not going to take that back because there is absolutely no way he won’t win it.
